On the road to success

Mac Tools welcomed Peter Tully to its UK network in March 2014 when he took on a franchise joining a network of over 125 trusted distributors. Now, with six months in the role under his belt, he couldn’t be happier about his decision.
Tully’s Mac Tools franchise covers Cornwall, an area he knows well, since it is where he was born and bred. Starting completely from scratch, he has put his local knowledge to very good use, steadily expanding his loyal customer base as he develops his franchise.
No doubt part of Tully’s continuing success is not only down to hard work, financial awareness and good business acumen, but also the support he has received from Mac Tools, as he explains, “The training and support I’ve received from both Mac Tools and the other franchisees has been second to none. The two franchisees I spent a day with have been fantastic with the advice they’ve offered me, plus they’re always on hand if I have any questions or am not sure about anything. The whole Mac Tools head office team is really supportive too.”
Taking time out from his busy schedule of garage visits, Tully said of his first six months of self-employment, “Taking on a franchise with Mac Tools has been a real revelation and I wish I had done it years ago. A major highlight for me has been the relationships I have built up with my customers. Anyone that has worked in the motor trade, especially in a workshop environment, will understand the camaraderie that goes on, and I’m now at a place with most garages and mechanics where I’m part of that. Six months in I still look forward to my working week on a Monday morning. Not many people can say that!"

“The best advice I can give to anyone considering taking on a Mac Tools franchise is do it! And don’t ever think you’re on your own on the road; the entire Mac Tools network has got your back. From fellow franchisees helping out with tips and advice, to the head office support network folk who are on hand daily to help answer your questions and queries, being part of a larger organisation is a definite advantage over going it alone. The fact that you’re carrying great products from a really prestigious brand with a racing pedigree is the icing on the cake.”
