A new start for the New Year

Working in construction, social housing and civil engineering may seem like a diverse selection of careers, but these are the backgrounds of Andy Betts, Glenn Upton, and Mark Robinson who have all marked the New Year by joining Mac Tools as franchisees. The three new recruits join an operation that includes over 130 other franchisees around the country, and is part of the £7billion global tool giant, Stanley Black & Decker.

Andy Betts comes to Mac Tools from a background in construction, but he knew what to expect before he joined the Mac Tools community due to a family connection. Andy, who will be covering the East Norwich area, takes up the story of why he chose to join Mac Tools, “My interest was sparked by seeing my partner successfully running her own Mac Tools franchise. That first-hand experience of the gains to be had left me in no doubt that becoming a Mac man was right for me, and being able to share best practice with each other can only be a good thing.”

For Glenn Upton it was a desire to be his own boss that led him to take on the Wigston territory within Mac Tools. After 30 years in management within social housing, Glenn realised it was time to make a positive change to his work life if he was to be happy, and that change came through Mac Tools. Glenn says he chose a Mac Tools franchise as a result of the combination of good people, great products, and outstanding support that he encountered as soon as he approached the business. “I had a day out on the van with a current franchisee to get a real sense of the business before I decided to join, and the positive attitude of everybody involved became apparent straight away.”

It was a similar story of wanting a change in life for Mark Robinson, who came to Mac Tools having previously been involved civil engineering. Talking about his career change, Mark says, “I wanted to move into something with a solid future, something that is constantly moving forward and challenges me every day. After the first week of training, I’m already confident that I have made the right decision joining the Mac Tools family.” Mark will be the Mac franchisee for the Dudley area.
